Issued to qualified individuals who inspect x-ray machines as part of the State's certification process.

This registration ensures that each x-ray tube and the facility in which it is used are registered with the State of Maryland. Registration is required before operating any radiation machine or modifying any facility in which an x-ray machine is to be used for medical diagnosis and therapy, industrial, or scientific purposes. It is also required when changing the location or ownership of a machine. This registration must be updated each time an x-ray machine (tube) is added to or removed from the facility inventory.

It is also required when changing the location or ownership of a machine. This registration must be updated each time an x-ray machine (tube) is added to or removed from the facility inventory.

Companies/Persons who intend to amend to their existing radioactive material license or those seeking to terminate their radioactive material license.

Companies/Persons who intend to possess or use radioactive materials of certain quantities and types and establish a facility in Maryland must be licensed by the State to ensure that these materials are used properly and safely by qualified persons who have sufficient knowledge and training.

As an Agreement State under the Atomic Energy Act, Maryland is obliged to recognize radioactive material licenses issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or any of the other 37 Agreement States for licensees with out-of-state facilities.

The licensee must, however:

1. Meet procedural requirements for working in Maryland
2. Obtain an authorization letter from the Department
3. Pay a reciprocity fee and
4. Notify the Department at least three days (72 hours) prior to working in the State

This permit ensures the proper disposal of solid waste in an environmentally acceptable manner while protecting public health and the environment, including surface and ground water.

Any person who installs, materially alters, or extends a refuse disposal system must obtain this permit. Refuse disposal systems that require this permit include:

• Municipal landfills
• Land clearing debris landfills
• Industrial waste landfills, including coal combustion byproducts and residuals
• Rubble landfills
• Incinerators (municipal and special medical waste)
• Transfer stations
• Processing facilities
• Processing and transfer facilities

Permit coverage (registration) is required for operators with construction projects that disturb over an acre, or less if part of a common plan of development.

Permission to relay oysters from polluted waters to approved waters for natural cleansing

The Resource Management Program within the Land and Materials Administration of the Maryland Department of the Environment regulates several activities to ensure the protection of public health and the environment.

The permit assures the proper management and recycling of organics, including:

• Yard trimmings
• Preconsumer and post-consumer food scraps
• Nonrecyclable paper
• Department-approved animal manure and bedding
• Industrially produced food processing materials
• Animal mortalities
• Manufactured organic materials like waxed-corrugated cardboard, non-coated paper and Other materials that the Department determines pose a low level of risk from hazardous substances and a higher level risk from physical contaminants and human pathogens

This includes both the Individual Composting Facility Permit and the General Composting Facility Permit
